Piombino spreads out over a promontory overlooking the islands of the Archipelago, with the Isola d’Elba in particular. It is a town that is rich in history and it is also interesting from a nature perspective.
In ancient times it was a key Etruscan town – to which the Baratti-Populonia park bears testimony – and was ruled by Napoleon’s sister, Elisa Bonaparte. Piombino offers tourists a particularly interesting environment – the Val di Cornea, the Etruscan Coast Wine Road, the estates that are full of traditional products, the Val di Cornia DOC wine holding centre stage amongst them, as well as the seafood and culinary delights from further inland that are just waiting to be tasted.
